| Previous Osaka races: | Has not previously competed. | |
| Reasons for Competing: | Because the race exists. | |
| Expectations: | We look forward to enjoying the sailing, navigation and weather challenges along the way and arriving safely in Osaka with the boat and the marriage intact! Along the way, we anticipate great weather, excellent food, dry beds, good music, ever changing vistas and moods of the sea and skies and the “virtual” camaraderie of our fellow sailors via the HF. | |
| Looking forward to: | The challenge of sailing short-handed in the only international yacht race that is sailed across the Equator from south to north. The Osaka Race captured my imagination some twelve years ago, but is has taken this long to be in a position to have a boat and partner to do the race. Neither of us have been to Japan before, but we have known competitors who have competed in previous races and their experiences have fired our imagination for the journey. We look forward to the arrival in Japan and the opportunity to explore Japan and enjoy the culture. | |

| Additional Comments: | As the race start draws closer, the panic of the last few months is gradually being replaced by the excitement of it all coming together at last. The easy part is crossing the start line – the hard part is the preparation to get there! We have been fortunate to have had access to previous competitors who have generously shared their knowledge and experience with us , particularly Robin Hewitt, George Shaw & Robyn Brooke. Their input has been invaluable in our preparation. |
