Previous Osaka races: yes 2003
Reasons for Competing: It is a race I have wanted to do for many many years. I love short handed sailing and this race is the pinnacle for two handed sailing in a non professional environment.
Expectations: After failing to finish 2003 our goal is to focus on finishing the race safely as our primary goal and doing well as our secondary goal.
Looking forward to: Arriving in Japan, enjoying the hospitality and to experience first hand this amazing country.
Years sailing: 34 years
Favourite waters: My favourite racing water is Port Phillip Bay and cruising grounds would be the Whitsundays.
Favourite sailing experience: Two handed sailing
Sailing Achievements: Sailing 70,000 plus ocean miles, over 6,000 two handed sailing miles, 7 Sydney Hobart Races, 3 Melbourne Hobart Races, Competed in 6 World titles in J24's and Etchells, Won a number of Club Championships, Won a few state based championships. But most of all love getting out on the water.
Additional Comments: In a sport that is slowly being dominated by professional sailors and major sponsors it is fantastic to see a true Corinthian event like the Osaka race. It is a fantastic event and should be protected for the future of the sport and its passionate sailors.
