Founded in 1954 by company president Mr. Shunsaku Tasaki
and incorporated in 1959, Tasaki Shinju is one of very
few companies that has, from the early days, continued
to cultivate, manufacture and sell pearls. In particular,
Tasaki Shinju has gained a reputation for high quality
Akoya pearls. Tasaki Shinju established the diamond
grinding and polishing system at its own factory and
is steadily developing the techniques. The success of
the pearl operation paved the way for the diversification
of the business, with Tasaki Shinju being appointed
as one of the sightholders of the Diamond Trading Company,
a designation that allows the company to purchase high
quality rough diamonds from the De Beers sales department.
Tasaki Shinju has always promoted the importance of
jewelry design and has fostered some 32 jewelry designers
to date. Moreover, the company has been the recipient
of the most prestigious “De Beers Diamonds-International
Awards” a record of 20 times, proving to be a
world-class jewelry company.
At present, the company has 56 shops throughout Japan
as well as managing, production and sales centers in
China (Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Tianjin,
Zhengzhou and Shenzhen), Taiwan (Taipei, Tainan, Taichung,
Kaohsiung and Hsin Chu), the USA (New York) and Myanmar
(Yangon). The year 2000 saw the introduction of a new
approach for Tasaki jewelry, with the opening of 6 new
outlet-type stores, committed to providing high quality
jewelry at a lower price.
Moreover, the company is committed in “mecenat”
activities, particularly in the area of classic music.
Beginning with Sir Yehudi Menuhin, their support continues
to Maestro Lorin Maazel counting eight performances
with the Maestro so far. In 2001, the company lent support
to the production of “Madama Butterfly”
as well as pearl exhibitions held in New York, thereby
promoting pearls in the USA.
As the title sponsor of the TASAKI OSAKA CUP Melbourne/Osaka
Double-Handed Yacht Race 2003, Tasaki Shinju is dedicated
to contributing to world peace and promoting environmental
issues. The race is the fifth to be organized by the
Osaka Municipal Government, the first of which was held
in 1987.
